"Comments" Section Absolutely Incredible!!

Let's just jump right into it folks. I have been reading the comments section this morning and I must admit, they have been giving me quite the laugh along with my fellow CERTIFIED paramedics here at the station...I'll post some of the "interesting" ones followed by my TRUTHFUL responses, here we go:

"I wrote the first blog and I am an expat! As far as career suicide the only career suicide happening in Cayman happend to the people who had the unfortunate experience of hanging out with the likes of you! I am not angry about anything, infact I am quite content and comfortable. I enjoy going to work every shift and can see the gifts that each and every colleague brings to the department. I also cherish my new friendships with all of the individuals that I work with, and know first hand that Mr. Stephen Duval is not only an excellent supervisor but can also be described as someone who cares and is dedicated to not only his profession but each and everyone of his employees or shall I say family members. As an expat I had the experience of witnessing the behaviors of the four individuals whom recenctly left. In fact the content of your blogs shows your level of maturity and professionalism or should I say the lack there of! An unfortunate pattern that started long before your departures and these blogs. A true professional knows how to conduct himself in a manner that is mature and tactful. I could use your names and discuss the dirty laundry in all of your closets but that would be unprofessional on my part. As far as the pictures, give us a break, we all know you were carrying around a camera
on your last few shifts so if there was a mess, which I can say with out
any reservations there was not! You should of picked it up and been professional enough to speak with the crew prior to you or to a supervisor! that would be professional! The other pictures we all know you know the truth, and it is not what is on your blog. As far as certifications we are in Cayman! Not the US, Canada or UK! Any professional paramedic knows that you need to carry the certifications within your state or province and that reciprocity is not a given in most EMS systems. The bottom line is people recieve there education all over the world. If you happen to be be Caymanian than you are only responsible to Cayman! I find your posts sad. The Cayman EMS officers do their jobs day in and day out, they love their country and the people in which they serve. Maybe you should stop for a moment and take a look at your current situations and wonder how you got to were you are right now!"

Response From Editor: Oh my little "blonde girl" from the eastern United States, you have no clue to whats going on. You act as if you have been working there for years on the island when in fact you arrived a few months ago!!! You "know" the fraudamedic Stephen Anthony Duval first hand you claim???? Obviously not well enough!!!! You don't know he's screwed more CERTIFIED Paramedics than a cheap Vegas hooker..You don't know he's not CERTIFIED.... You don't know he's employing a "child toucher"...You don't know that if history is any indication that he will turn on you in a moments notice... "Dedicated" to his profession you say?????? Your kidding me right?? If he was so dedicated to his profession he would get up off his lazy ass and properly certify just like some of the other respected CAYMANIANS!!! "Dedicated" to his profession you say??? You mean like when he gives the wrong medication to a patient as witnessed first hand by a CERTIFIED paramedic and nothing is done or he does not take the warning from the CERTIFIED paramedic standing right beside him and he could have killed this patient??? Is that what you mean by "dedication"????? Please enlighten me. You mention professionalism and maturity according to this blog, but alas this blog states the truth!!!! Where is Stephen Anthony Duaval's professionalism gone??? I'll tell you where, EXPIRED!!!!! You mention the 4 professionals that left the service recently, you seem to know a lot about them for only being employed 2 months!!! As for dirty laundry about them, just keep in mind NONE have them have ever given a wrong medication to anyone and they are ALL certified and back working with PROFESSIONAL services!!!! As for the pictures on the website, "give us a break" you stated??? You mean give you a break from the mold where you sleep in west bay station where numerous paramedics and EMT's have coughing fits and are sick after a 12 hour shift there??? Is that the kind of break you want?? Or is it the break from all the dirty needles and blood almost every shift lying around the ambulance just waiting for someone to stick themselves??? And as far as a "caring" manager goes, Stephen can't even accomadate a couple of respectable beds to sleep in the stations, just some 20 year old breakout chairs that smell like urine!! Real caring guy!!! As for "certifications" being in cayman and we are not in the U.S. or canada or U.K., well all I have to say about that is this, the next time the "Cayman Airways" pilots license expires I would like to see how fast you buy airline tickets for you and your family??? NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO ALWAYS MAINTAIN CERTIFICATIONS, NO MATTER WHERE YOUR FROM OR PRACTICE, it's just the professional thing to do!!! They "love their country and people"??? You mean like when they show up to work everyday late?? You mean like when they give the wrong medications to their fellow caymanians?? You mean like when they fail to CERTIFY every 2 years in order to keep up to date and be PROFESSIONAL??? Is that what you mean??? As for my current situation since you mentioned it has been great, I'm at one of the best services in the world, I love my job again and I'm CERTIFIED!!!! And I don't work at a casino, I just have a killer system to play roulette and make a few extra bucks on the side:) As for you, my inside sources tell me your not the most affable EMT-B on the block.....You think you own the place and that's rubbing people the wrong way my little high healed pitbull!!!! Just because you "think" you know the manager I suggest you get off the princess high horse before you start commenting on paramedics you barely know:)

"Hey You
Yeah the Expat that tounges the choclate starfish of Mr Duval. ONE QUESTION.....IF WORKING AS A PARAMEDIC FOR THE CAYMAN ISLANDS AMBULANCE SERVICE IS SO GREAT PLEASE TELL ME WHY ALL OF THE FOLLOWING PARAMEDICS LEFT OVER A 16 MONTH PERIOD.

UK Certified Paramedic Ken ?
UK Certified Paramedic B.Buck
UK Certified Paramedic J.Davies
USA Certified Paramedic W.Arnold
UK/USA Certified Paramedic R.Smyth
UK Certified Paramedic M.Shuter
USA Certified Paramedic J.Zolondek
UK Certified Paramedic M.Bowers
UK Certified EMT S.Holmes
USA Certified Paramedic J.Dardano
Canadian Certified Paramedic T.Henriques
USA Certified Paramedic R.Town
USA Certified Paramedic M.Gurney

That is 13 Certified Paramedics in 16 months.

Almost 1 a month.

So once again if it is so great a place to work why have all these paramedics left.

Can all 13 be wrong???????
Why not contact any one of them and ask them

What about the 10 ER nurses that have left.
2 CEO's, Cardiologists etc etc etc.

They all must have got it wrong!!!!!!!!!!!
PARADISE MY ASS

If you are gonna go to Cayman. I will say a prayer for you

Regards"

Response From Editor: Could not have said it better myself!!!

Hey blogster,

I must admit, you do have some good points. I don't beleive anyone should drop their "external" certs just because they work in only Cayman.

I beleive all Paramedics have a responsibility to themselves and the pt's they tx., by ensuring that they are current in EMS methods, procedures etc which in my opinion includes keeping current certification.

I don't beleive 20hrs CME's q 2yrs is good enough. Additionally, I beleive that good is just not good enough, paramedics should be great.

Please don't mis-understand me in this blog. I'm NOT saying that the team/medics aren't good medics, all I'm saying is that current certifications carry a lot more weight in terms of public confidence. These guys are respected nonetheless and should be given some credit. They don't deserve your abuse.

I think you did enough blogster. No need for badmouthing. You should have stuck around and demanded more from the commission and HSA.

This blog really serves little purpose thus far, save defaming and demoralizing an already struggling service. These guys give it 100% everyday. They mustbe, to be working that much OT, since so many people jumped ship. That dedication must count for something...even in your highly principled and morally wealthy books. Your photo with the LSB and the digit says attests to that high moral standard.

How about we call it your game? You've won! Game over?
Now everyone can go and get on with what's really important...THE PT.

One more thing. I must say I retract my statement -"blog...serves no purpose thus far".

You will see a well trained, run and certified EMS system, sooner than later.

You've helped more than you think.

CERTIFIED CAYMANIAN PARAMEDIC II

Response From Editor: "Certified Caymanian paramedic", since there is only 1 certified caymanian paramedic in the Cayman Islands EMS service then I guess we both know who I'm addressing!!!! Thankyou for your responses.. As for respecting these guys because they only work extra "OT" because 4 medics decided to "jump ship" is only going to gain you 1 point in my book. First of all they only do it for the money, second, your missing the point of this blog, they shouldn't even be working in the first place since they are not even CERTIFIED!! Why should some certify and some don't???? Answer me that question.... As for "jumping ship", give me a break, things haven't changed their in 25 years and never will, no matter how much we bitch!!! As for the pic with Duval and the middle finger, lighten up, just having a little fun with him, like he had fun with us "on his island" when we were down there:) What goes around comes around, harder usually!!! I hope your right about the service in terms of seeing a "better service" in the future...This is not a matter of being right or wrong it's a matter of what's best for the patient like you stated, not being certified and up to date is a very serious issue, especially when your caught giving the wrong medications!!! I do very much respect the caymanians like yourself that go overseas to keep certified and who are extreamly bright people and work hard, kudos to you all, but you know as well as I do their are some very serious issues that have to be addressed with some people. I'm not badmouthing anyone, just telling the truth, and until things change, everyone should be aware of whats going on down there.....thanks for your postings.....
